Porch Swings & Lies|Leon and Dierdra

leon-talbot:

dierdra-oconner:

*shrugs with a smirk*

Maybe you’ve just been sleeping with strange women.

*laughs shaking her head*

*looks out at the sky*

Is it bad that I don’t know exactly?

::stops for a minute as he looks at Dierdra curiously before realizing she was just joking::

::decides not to say anything as the pressure from the corners of the pink box prodded his chest::

::looks at the sky too::

Well, why don’t we figure it out together?

::hand that was resting on the seat moves to catch hold of her own hand resting on the seat::

::remembers a memory of saying the exact same thing to Laurel::

::sighs::

*looks down as his hand catches hers, smiling softly she turns it over so her fingers intertwine with his*

There isn’t much to figure out.

*stares at the way her hand fits in his*

Our parents died when we were young. It’s been years. Near sixteen years and…

*shakes her head*

I know I should be done and gone with it.

The Windy City || Leon & Dierdra

leontalbot-rp:

“Well, excluding the part where you almost got toppled over, I’d say you’ve been good so far.” he gave her hand a little squeeze as they entered the building, ”After we buy the things you need, we can go pick a new book. Cosmo isn’t here so you don’t need to share.”

Something about The O’Conner house, the medication, and Dierdra in particular got Leon acting different. He was starting to wonder if it was the reason why Cosmo would rather stay out of town than go home most of the time. Being domesticated like this was making the reporter act….different. He was turning soft and turning into a worry wart. But it wasn’t that bad is it? He enjoyed being with Dierdra, enjoyed spending time with her, enjoyed holding her hand, sharing meals with her, reading her a story and sleeping beside her-

“What floor is it? Where we need to buy the perfume?”

"This is true," Dierdra commented at his mention of not needed to share with Cosmo. Long since she out grown those days, even if they did occasionally linger in her mind.

Looking down at the hand that held hers, Dierdra smiled. In the past few days the house had shifted to brimming with people, to being near desolate. For the better part of nearly a week it had been just the two of them. An odd makeshift routine had formed and the brunette would have been hard pressed to say she hated it.

The liked the company and security of having someone solid in the house. She loved Cosmo desperately, but he was always coming and going, in and out, Dierdra never knew what to expect from him and it was damn near madding. Perhaps the thing she loved the most was-

"Oh…" Dierdra said with a shake of her head, pushing the thoughts she had been having away, "unless they’ve changed things around since the last time I was here, it should be on the third floor."

Moving around an older couple looking a display of ties a smile formed on the young woman’s face, “And I was thinking, while I don’t have to share with Cosmo, the likely hood that you’ll be reading form this new book is extremely high… it might be nice if you had at least a little input. If you would like.”

Swing With Me || Colin & Dierdra

colin-reeves:

I do still love her…. a lot. But if she’s happy with someone else, then I’ll be okay. As long as she’s happy.

::grins and kisses her forehead::

Why? What trouble have you gotten yourself into missy?

*shakes her head*

Both. I would like you both happy.

*closes her eyes as he kisses her forehead*

Not trouble so much as memories.

*absentmindedly twists the ring on her finger*

I’ve been thinking about them a lot lately.

Porch Swings & Lies|Leon and Dierdra

leon-talbot:

Maybe so, but then that means I’d need to reprimand you for sleeping and snuggling with strange men such as myself.

::eyes her for a moment::

How are you though? We..haven’t really talked about the other night, during the tea leaf reading.

*shrugs with a smirk*

Maybe you’ve just been sleeping with strange women.

*laughs shaking her head*

*looks out at the sky*

Is it bad that I don’t know exactly?

Swing With Me || Colin & Dierdra

colin-reeves:

::sighs deeply::

I know that now…but then? I guess she just scared me. God I regret it…

::looks down at her and smiles::

You’re right, I’m glad I’m here now though. You always were the better one when it came to thinking.

::laughs::

I know you still love her. I just don’t want to see you hurt. Either of you, but I know enough of regret to know it will eat you alive if you let it.

*tips her head back to his shoulder looking up at him, smiling softly*

You say that, but I’m not so sure my head has been on straight for the past few days.

Swing With Me || Colin & Dierdra

colin-reeves:

dierdra-oconner:

*stares at him for a long moment*

You know she didn’t mean it. You’re not like him, Colin.

*wraps her arms around him*

Have I told you I’ve missed you lately?

::shrugs::

I know that now…but at that point in time…I don’t know…I just didn’t want to do that to her.

::smiles sadly:

You have. And I’ve missed you too, Dee. A lot.

*shakes her head* You wouldn’t have. *nuzzles against him* We have stop doing this, going so long without talking. It isn’t natural.

colin-reeves:

She compared me to my father and I over-reacted.

::bites at his lip before exhaling sharply::

Because a lot can happen in four years apparently.

::shakes his head::

That’s so bizarre to think about though….seem like such a long time…

*stares at him for a long moment*

You know she didn’t mean it. You’re not like him, Colin.

*wraps her arms around him*

Have I told you I’ve missed you lately?

(Source: dierdra-oconner)

colin-reeves:

::sighs::

Did she ever explain to you why I broke up with her?

::wraps an arm around her shoulders::

We were…god what were we? Sixteen? Seventeen, max.

*shakes her head*

I know things were said, but…

*smiles softly*

Why is it that only three to four years ago seems like a lifttime away from now?

Porch Swings & Lies|Leon and Dierdra

leon-talbot:

Frank is still Frank. But I think he’s starting to miss me..or miss shouting at someone.

::laughs::

How are you? You’re out here so late again, I hope you haven’t been talking to strange men.

*nods her head about Frank before laughing*

I like it out here. It was either here on on the roof. And do I get to toss you into the category of ‘strange men’?

leon-talbot:

::vehicle rolls into driveway, engine stops::

::looks at the pink box he got from Reva and then at Dee who’s at the porch swing::

::tucks the pink box in his coat and walks to her::

Hi, Dee…how was your day?

::sits beside her::

I’m sorry I didn’t call, I was swamped.

*doesn’t look up as she hears the car, but wait till she hears footsteps on the porch*

It was quiet…

*finishes scribbling out a last sentence before closing her journal, laying it beside her*

It’s okay. Is Frank finally giving you some freedom, or is he still being… well Frank?

(Source: dierdra-oconner)

colin-reeves:

::leans back::

I know…but it doesn’t mean I didn’t deserve it.

::sighs::

I just….I think we could have worked it out, you know?

*tips her head to look up at him*

Why do you think you deserve to be hurt?

*settles into him*

Maybe you were both too young then. God, we were young then.

lawrence-fisher:

*stops running around in tin foil hat and starts to walk*

*looks around and sees a girl on the swing*

I like swings, makes you feel like you’re flying.

*laughs*

They do, but I’m afraid this porch swing hasn’t done much flying in years. It’s a bit old.

*smiles*

I like your hat.

colin-reeves:

::walks up to her house::

::sits down next to her on the porch swing::

Am I an idiot for breaking up with Evey way back when?

*picks his arm up and puts it around her shoulder*

I know she hurt you…

nick-burgh:

*Looks down for a moment before sliding the watch back into his pocket*

Kid thought I was the mayor….. then thought I might have come from the mother ship.

*takes a few steps closer, his eyes straining to see her in the dim light*

Have we met?

*laughs a little*

He’s got a very active imagination.

*tips her head to the side, trying to place the man*

I’m not sure… I thought I knew most everyone in Montford. You look familiar though. I’m Dierdra O’Conner.

*offers him a smile*

nick-burgh:

*kicks a rock, twirling his pocket watch in his hand*

*hears the creaking of a swing. Turns to see where the noise is coming from*

*grins, stopping for a moment*

it’s a little late to be outside alone, don’t you think? I heard some kid back there with a tin foil hat say something about abductions….

*jumps a little at a voice cutting the night*

Oh… um…

*thinks for a moment*

That’s just Lawrence. I think I’m safe… unless he’s decided I’m an alien.
